Gummy Bears Q&A

1

Are Gummy Bear breast implants safe?
Yes! MENTOR®'s Gummy Bear breast implants have been used in 70 countries for more than a decade. Additionally, you can be assured they are FDA-approved since 2012 and safe for your use. Dr. Kim is board-certified and is highly trained to provide the best care for his patients when undergoing augmentation. Also, all MENTOR® implants contain no latex, and those sold in the US are manufactured right here in the USA.

2

Compared to other breast implants, are Gummy Bears expensive?
Taking all factors into consideration, in the long run Gummy Bear implants are generally considered long lasting and cost effective because they don't leak or tear which gives them an increased longevity when compared to other implant types. They are less likely to need to be replaced than many other implants.

3

Am I a good candidate for Gummy Bear breast implants?
If you fall into one of the following two groups, Gummy Bear breast implants may be right for you:

» Are at least 22 years old and want to increase the size and proportion of the breasts.
» Want to correct or improve the results of a previous augmentation surgery. This includes the replacement of an existing implant, known as revision augmentation.

4

Are Gummy Bear Implants right for women who've lost breast tissue?
Gummy Bear implants are an option for women who have lost breast tissue to an injury or cancer, or want to correct a congenital anomaly. As with all surgeries, your doctor should be made aware of any previous conditions or medical disorders that could influence how your body would react to surgery.

5

Who is not a good candidate for breast implant surgery?
Women who:

» Have cancer or pre-cancer of their breast
» Have active infections in their body.
» Have not gotten adequate treatment for the above conditions.
» Are pregnant or nursing.

6

What shape options do I have with Gummy Bear implants?
Round with a round base, teardrop shaped with a round base, teardrop shaped with an oval base, or teardrop shaped with a classic base are the shape options, with teardrop being low profile at the top and a higher profile at the base like the natural shape of a breast. All shapes come in smooth or textured options as well. During your initial consultation with Dr. Kim in Westchester New York, your body measurements and personal preferences will be used to decide on the perfect option for you.

7

What are the risks involved?
Any breast implant surgery comes with risks. There is a small risk of local complications with Gummy Bears. This could happen at or near the incision that was made on the breast.

8

How should I prepare for my augmentation procedure?
In the 48-72 hours after surgery, limit your physical strain, especially in the areas that might place strain on the incisions. Arrange for care of your children or pets if necessary. Plan to wear comfortable clothes the days directly following, and just in case your recovery takes a little longer than expected, make sure to have some food in your refrigerator and prescriptions filled.

9

How long is the recovery time, and what should I expect?
Laser lipo recovery time is much shorter than traditional liposuction--just 1-3 days. In fact, some patients can go to work the very next day. You may see slight bruising at the small incision sites. A compression garment is required for a short period of time, post procedure.
The morning of your appointment, you should shower, but do not apply makeup, perfume, hair products or jewelry of any kind. Wear a front-opening shirt, thick socks to keep your feet warm, and clothing you can move easily in. If you normally wear contacts don’t put them in prior to your procedure. Wear glasses or bring them for when you are ready to go home.
Dr. Kim and Bellava MedAesthetics & Plastic Surgery Center of Westchester want to make sure you are as comfortable as you can be with this both procedure and after your appointment. We welcome you to contact us online or at 914-864-2140 with your questions, and to schedule your free consultation to see if Gummy Bear implants are right for you.

7

When can I resume my normal activities after breast augmentation surgery?

Breast Lift Q&A

1

Does a Breast Lift Procedure Hurt?
A breast lift is performed with general anesthesia so you will not experience pain during the procedure, which usually takes about 1-3 hours. After surgery, you may experience mild discomfort due to swelling and bruising for a few days, although a support bra will help reduce the discomfort. After a short recovery, most women experience no pain or complications

2

Can a breast lift be combined with other procedures?
Yes, a breast lift is often combined with a breast augmentation or breast reduction. A breast lift can enhance breasts that have been enlarge or reduced, enhancing the overall youthful, firm and perky shape.

3

Does a breast lift cause permanent scarring?
Scarring will occur after a breast lift procedure at the incision site. Gradually, over the next few months after the breast lift procedure, the scars will fade and be practically unnoticeable.

4

How long does a breast lift last?
Results can vary depending on each individual patient but most enjoy firm, youthful breasts for years after the breast lift procedure. Factors such as aging, pregnancy and gravity can cause the breasts to eventually sag again.

5

Can I undergo more than one breast lift procedure?
Yes. While a breast lift provides an effective lifting and firming of the breasts, they may sag again over time. At that time you may choose to have another breast lift.

6

When can I resume activities after a breast lift?
For the first few days you may have some pain and discomfort so it’s best to rest after a breast lift. However, you should get up and move around as much as possible. Most patients can return to work within a week or so after the procedure. Avoid heavy lifting and exercise for at least 2 weeks or more to allow proper healing.

7

Where can I get my breast lift surgery performed?
Board-certified Westchester plastic surgeon, Dr. Kim performs breast lift procedures in Bedford Hills, NY, convenient to Mount Kisco, Katonah, Pound Ridge, Armonk, North Salem, Larchmont and the Putnam towns of Brewster, Carmel and the Connecticut towns of Fairfield, Ridgefield, Danbury and Stamford, CT.

Breast Reduction Q&A

1

Who is a good candidate for breast reduction?
The best candidate for a breast lift is someone who is in good health who wishes to reduce the size of her breasts. Patients should also have realistic expectations and understand the risks and benefits of the procedure.

2

What are the most common benefits of breast reduction surgery?
Breast reduction surgery can help alleviate persistent back or neck pain. After the post-op period, women who were restricted in their physical activity because of large breasts can now enjoy a more active lifestyle with more frequent exercise and may also be able to fit into clothing that was previously difficult.

3

Is there usually pain during a breast reduction procedure?
There is no pain since this procedure, which usually takes 2-3 hours, is performed under general anesthesia.

4

Is there much pain after breast reduction surgery?
Mild to moderate pain due to initial swelling and bruising is common for the first few days following surgery but can be managed with OTC or prescription pain medication.

5

How long does it take to get back to normal after breast reduction surgery?
The recovery period ranges from several days to a week or two, depending on each individual case. Exercise is usually resumed within 2-4 weeks.

6

What is the long-term outcome like for most people who have breast reduction surgery?
Most breast reduction patients experience less discomfort, a more youthful appearance, an increase in confidence, and a more active lifestyle.
